WHO WE ARE

I’m Craig Chalmers, founder of Chalmers Masonry Conservation.

With over 15 years’ experience in stonemasonry, I began my career working on St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh, where I developed a strong foundation in traditional stonework and conservation techniques.
Since then, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects across Scotland, gaining valuable experience alongside respected contractors and highly skilled masons. This has shaped a careful, considered approach to every project we take on.
Based in Edinburgh, Chalmers Masonry Conservation specialises in the conservation and restoration of stone buildings — from historic churches and cathedrals to cottages and townhouses.

We take great pride in our work, with a strong focus on quality, attention to detail, and doing things properly. Every project is carried out with care and respect for the building, using the right materials and methods.

Fully qualified and fully insured, we provide a reliable and professional service from start to finish.

We love to hear from you

Our skill set allow us to assess historic or modern buildings, survey and document the findings in a comprehensive report, carry out any repairs to the fabric and our own masons can cut and carve any stone needed to suit. Being craftspeople ourselves we take a great care in carrying out the correct procedures to the buildings we work on from Churches and Cathedrals to Townhouses, Tenements and Cottages.
